The History of Socks

Socks - love 'em or hate 'em, it seems that they're here to stay.

All shapes, well, not strictly - I mean a sock is a sock, but definitely all sizes and lots of different colours and designs.

One of my favourite is the Argyll - but we won't go into that too deeply.

Ahhh 85% cotton 15% lycra mix.

(That, by the way, is my favourite sock material composition.) Hang on, my own personal preferences are now coming too much into this.

So, I hear you say, what about socks?

Well, socks are very useful. (Most of the time.)

They keep your feet warm when it is cold - for example the fisherman's thick wool sock, often worn with the wellington boot or the wader. A good choice for those winter days when the cold can penetrate the extremities.

Hell, fashion is whatever you want to wear and whatever material composition you prefer - I'm not going to berate anybody for wearing a nylon rich mix - but you're feet won't thank you - very very sweaty. (Pooh!)
